HUGO TRINDADE

ORGAN TRIO

A B O U T

Versatile guitarist, he develops activity mainly in the area of jazz and improvised music, but always updated to what is happening in the rest of the musical universe - in search of new boundaries and musical sounds.

He studied guitar with Mário Delgado, André Fernandes, Pedro Madaleno and attended masterclasses with John Scofield, Marc Ribot, Jonathan Kreisberg, Frank Mobus and the trio Medeski Martin & Wood. He holds a degree in Music - Jazz, and is currently finishing his MA in Jazz Performance, where he develops research on ''Incorporating Blues, Rock & Funk Guitar Techniques and Language in Jazz Guitar''.

In 2012 he won the competition '' Cool Jazz Talents 2012 '', promoted by EDP and Cool Jazz Fest, with his quintet.

After several years playing jazz trio in its more traditional format (guitar, bass and drums), Trindade decided to revitalize the sound of the classic ''Organ Trio''. Without forgetting the roots of hardop and soul jazz that in many ways support the aesthetics of this formation, this trio also travels through the most modern sonorities that this instrumentation allows, between original arrangements and themes. A trio that sounds like a quartet, featuring Hugo Trindade (guitar & loops), Luís Pereira (drums) and Edgar Alexandre (hammond B3).
